FRENCH LYRE CLOCK CIRCA 1830

This delicate and attractive timepiece has a lyre shaped gilded frame decorated with beadwork on its inner and outer edges and also around the top border of the white marble base. It has an urn on top with swags of laurel leaves hanging down and further laurel leaves to either side of the lyre. The frame rests on two gilded blocks with finials.

The chapter ring has inner and outer bezels and Arabic numerals. The finely pierced hands are gilded and the dial centre left open to expose the movement. The sunburst pendulum is a replacement.

Suspended from the ribbon work at the top of the lyre is a basket overflowing with flowers.
