ROBERT WOOD, LONDON. A FINE 13" EARLY SILVERED DIAL CLOCK WITH WOODEN BEZEL AND VERGE ESCAPEMENT. CIRCA 1790.

A rare and unusual early English silvered dial clock.

The mahogany case has a nicely shaped mahogany bezel rather than the more normal brass bezel. The square back box has an opening door at the side and the bottom to enable the pendulum to be regulated.

The 13" silvered dial with Arabic outer numerals and Roman inner numerals is signed in flowing script for the maker, Robert Wood, London. The engraving for London having a number of artistic flourishes. The bezel has a built in lock.
