A RARE GILDED DESK/CARRIAGE CLOCK WITH GARNIER STYLE (CHAFFCUTTER) ESCAPEMENT. CIRCA 1850.

The interesting clock has front wind through the enamelled dial as on the early carriage clocks by Garnier. The white dial, some 3.2" wide by 2.2" deep, has Roman numerals and winding holes opposite IIII and VIII. It is signed Lurasco Freres, Amsterdam, and is protected by a brass framed glazed door.

The clock strikes the hours and halves on a bell, employing a count wheel.

The case just over 4" wide and 3" high, has solid sides and back and is fully glazed on top. It rests on turned pointed feet.
