LOUIS FERNIER (L.F.) NO. 4439. A BEAUTIFUL GRANDE SONNERIE STRIKING CARRIAGE CLOCK WITH THREE VERY WELL EXECUTED PORCELAIN PANELS, C.1890.

This clock has an anglaise riche case with fluted and silvered corinthian columns with gilt capitals to the four corners. Immediately above the base and below the top mould is a decorative silvered band and the centre portion of the Greek key handle is fluted and silvered. The clock rests on shallow block feet.

The finely painted panels to either side both depict courtiers in a country setting, one in green and the other a red costume. The front panel is also set in a country scene with two finely dressed young ladies reclining on seats with a footstool. The dial has black Arabic numerals and a spade hour hand.

The clock has grande sonnerie striking on two gongs with the usual selection lever in the base for quarters, silence or grande sonnerie.
