ADAMS, FLEET STREET. AN ELEGANT MAHOGANY STICK BAROMETER BY THIS EMINENT MAKER. CIRCA 1780.

A very simple and elegant mahogany stick barometer with a pedimented top, visible capillary tube, nicely silvered and engraved scale to the top signed for the maker with Vernier setting on the right.

The nicely turned mahogany cistern cover held in place by a brass strap with adjusting screw below.

George Adams Junior, the son of George Senior, took over the family business when his father died in 1773. He also succeeded to the title of Instrument Maker to George III and later became Optician to the Prince of Wales.
