A GIANT FULLY ENGRAVED FRENCH CARRIAGE CLOCK WITH ALARM, DAY AND DATE CALENDAR AND FULL GRANDE SONNERIE STRIKING. CIRCA 1860.

A superb giant gorge cased grande sonnerie French carriage clock. The case beautifully engraved and gilded stands some 9" tall to the base of the handle. The multi dialled front has a gilded engine turned mask and there are, in addition to the main dial, a dial for the days of the week, for the alarm and for the days of the month.

The eight day grande sonnerie striking movement has an extremely large gilded platform lever escapement visible through the top glass. The balance wheel with compensating screws. The movement strikes the quarters on two bells mounted on the backplate and has the usual three position lever in the base for full strike, quarters only, silent.
