WARNE, WEST BROMPTON, (LONDON) A RARE SPRING DRIVEN REGULATOR ON MATCHING BUT LATER MAHOGANY WALL BRACKET. CIRCA 1845.

This most attractive regulator has a substantial five pillar movement with dead beat escapement, maintaining power, beat regulation and a wood rod pendulum.

The 11.5" circular engraved and silvered brass dial, in classic regulator style, is excellently laid out with a centre sweep minute hand and subsidiary dials for seconds and hours of the maximum possible size. It is surrounded by a brass bezel with inner silvered ring.

The ‘ drum-head ’ of the case rests on a scroll base with a half round mould to its’ edge terminating in light floral carving. Below this is a rectangular plinth. The clock rests on a matching bracket with twin scroll supports.

The maker is probably Edwin Warne, who is recorded in Brian Loomes "Watchmakers Clockmakers of the World Vol. 2" as working around 1851.

Height with/without bracket : 27.5"/18" ( 67/47 cms.)
