A MAHOGANY CASED STRIKING ENGLISH DIAL CLOCK.
CIRCA 1870.

A plain but elegant striking English dial clock. The white repainted 12" dial has bold Roman numerals inside the minute ring. The blued steel hands of spade and pointer design.

The fine quality eight day chain fusee movement strikes the hours on a bell mounted above the movement. It has an anchor escapement and footed plates. The pillars are nicely shaped. Some of the under dial work on the strike side has been reinstated.

The back box has a shaped bottom door for access to the pendulum rating nut and a side door for access to the top of the pendulum. As usual in these clocks, it is pegged to the dial surround using four pegs. Interestingly it has two trade repair labels pasted to the case dated 1894 and 1899.
