This fine and attractive carriage clock has a well engraved gilt brass case which is glazed to top and sides. It has a florally engraved rear door, folding handle with four finials above and stands on four bun feet.
The circular silvered dial has floral engraving to the centre, Roman numerals and blued steel moon hands set within a similarly engraved gilt mask.
The chain fuseé timepiece movement is surmounted by a gilt platform lever escapement and signed on the backplate ‘John Cragg, 8 Northampton Square, London’.
Height to the base of handle: 4¼″ (11 cm).
John Cragg is recorded at 8 Northampton Square from 1840 to 1862.
