An extremely elegant Biedermeier wall clock. The case is veneered in rosewood and has a gilded carved fret to the top and gilded bases and tops to the door columns. The top of the clock is slightly moustache shaped. It then proceeds down into a full length opening front door and has an under curved slightly rounded base typical of that period.

The eight day striking movement strikes the hours on a gong. It has Graham’s deadbeat escapement and fine quality wheel work and under dial work typical of these clocks. Striking clocks are extremely rare as the majority were either quarter striking or timepieces.

The one piece enamel dial has nicely fretted blued steel hands and is surrounded by a well cast and gilded pie crust bezel. The pendulum has a large brass bob and a black wood rod.

Length: 43″ (109 cm)
