An extremely attractive English library clock.  The rosewood case of typical form has a flat top with a large viewing glass and goes down through a dental moulding to the opening front door and glass sides.  It proceeds through an ogee moulding to a square base with small brass adjustable bun feet.

The dial is a particularly fine feature.  It is engine turned and gilded with Roman numerals and blued steel moon hands.

The eight day gong striking movement has twin chain fusees, fine quality wheel work and a well shaped pendulum.  There is a pendulum hold fast for transportation on the backplate.  It has a half deadbeat escapement and strikes the hours on a steel gong mounted on the backplate.  The backplate is signed by the maker ‘John Braham & Co, Bristol’.

Height: 9″ (23 cm)

The maker John Braham & Co are noted as working in Bristol from 1830 to 1856 and were retailers of barometers, clocks and opticians.
