AN EIGHT DAY ROSEWOOD BIEDERMEIER TIMEPIECE WITH EBONISED CARVED MOUNTS. CIRCA 1850.

The rosewood case has boxwood stringing and a carved ebonised cresting to its shaped top. The long glazed door has a shaped aperture with additional carved mounts above the dial and on the curved front edge of the door.

It has a two piece enamel dial with black Roman numerals and an elaborate cast ‘pie crust’ gilded bezel. The fine delicate hands are of blued steel and the minute hand is counter balanced.

The eight day weight driven timepiece movement has deadbeat escapement and the brass pendulum has an ebonised wooden rod.
